Dong Yueying joined the Dentons Shanghai office in May 2016 as a partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. Ms. Dong is highly accomplished in the field of intellectual property, both in the cultural industries and corporate business. She holds posts including Coordinator of the Chinese Folk Arts Legal Service Center, Deputy Director of the Culture and Media Committee of the Shanghai Lawyers Association, Director of the Shanghai Women Lawyers Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Young and Middle-Aged Intellectuals Association, and Deputy Secretary-General and Social and Legal Committee Director of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Advice and Suggestions Association.
Ms. Dong has a wealth of experience in providing legal services to the cultural industries. She is a member of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Think Tank and the Jing'an District Government Cultural Project Expert Think Tank. She is also a permanent legal adviser to the Shanghai City of Design Activity Week Program and organizer and lawyer providing specialized legal services for Alibaba Pictures Group in the Shanghai region. At the same time, Ms. Dong has also provided legal services for many renowned collectors, connoisseurs, calligraphers, and painters in China and participated in the preparation and establishment of numerous private museums and cultural funds. Ms. Dong was one of the first lawyers in China to work closely with the cultural industries and actively provide legal services in this field. The team she leads is currently the first to work with Chinese folk arts.
Ms. Dong is an active participant in the field of cultural legislation and has made exceptional contributions. Her recommendation to "increase the reward mechanism for unearthed cultural relics" was published in Central Lingxun; her proposal to "encourage the legalization of the private collection of cultural relics" was adopted by the State Council on March 8, 2015.
